The short version
- Your beans, shots and settings live on your phone. They are never sent to us.
- The app has no account, no analytics, no crash reporting and no ads.
- Backups are files you save yourself, wherever you choose. We never see them.
- This website has no cookies. We count visits with Plausible, without storing IP addresses or following you from day to day.

The website mrbeanbag.app
No cookies. Fonts and images are served from mrbeanbag.app itself, so your visit is not sent to Google or anyone else.
Visit counts with Plausible. We count visits with Plausible, an analytics tool from Estonia that stores its data in the EU. It uses no cookies and does not store your IP address. A visit is counted with a code made from your IP address and browser together with a random value that is deleted every 24 hours, so you cannot be followed from one day to the next. We only see totals: which pages are visited, where visitors come from, country, device and browser. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).
Server logs. Vercel, which hosts the website, records technical details about requests: IP address, time, browser and the address that was visited. This is used for operation and security. The legal basis is legitimate interest (GDPR art. 6(1)(f)).

What the app stores, and where
Everything you enter stays in a database on your phone: your setup (brewer and grinder), your beans and roasters, the shots you log with time, grind, dose, yield and taste, the fields you track, and photos you take of your coffee bags. None of it is sent to us or to anyone else. We have no server that receives your data, and no way to see it.
No account, no tracking
You do not create an account or log in. The app has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no push notifications. The list of grinder models is built into the app, so searching for a model number happens on your phone.
Camera and photos
The app only asks for the camera or your photo library when you add a picture of a bag. The picture is stored in the app on your phone.
Backups are yours
Because nothing is stored with us, a backup is a file you save yourself. The app writes a .zip file to a folder you pick, for example Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud or the phone itself, or hands it to your phone’s share sheet. Where that file ends up is your choice, and the service you choose handles it under its own terms. We never receive a copy. If you lose your phone without a backup, we cannot restore your data.
Sharing a recipe
When you share a bean, the app creates a link, a QR code or an image with the bean’s name, roaster and settings. It is sent through your phone’s own share sheet to whoever you choose. The link opens directly in the recipient’s app and does not pass through us.
Buying the full version
The full version is bought through Google Play or the App Store. Google or Apple handles the payment and your account with them, under their own terms, as independent controllers. We do not receive your card details, name or email address. The app only learns whether the full version is unlocked.
Processors
The app itself uses no processors, because it sends no personal data anywhere.
How long data is kept
In the app: on your phone until you delete it, or delete the app. Backup files stay wherever you saved them until you delete them.
Plausible: only aggregated visit counts are kept. The daily visitor code is deleted every 24 hours.
Vercel server logs: for a short period, under Vercel’s own routines.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or handed over in a machine-readable format. You can also ask us to restrict processing or object to it. Write to hello@sommersethdesign.no and we will reply within 30 days. If you believe we process data unlawfully, you can complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
Your data in the app is already in your hands. You can export it as a backup file at any time, and you delete it by clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it.
Security
All traffic to mrbeanbag.app is encrypted (HTTPS). In the app, your data is protected by your phone’s own security, such as screen lock and device encryption. Backup files are protected by the service or device you store them on.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal data, we update this page and the date at the top. If the app ever starts sending data anywhere, we will say so here and in the app before it happens.
